The Classic Primer

Coating material according to DIN 55 945. High-quality white primer (sanding primer) based on special aromatic-free, oil-modified alkyd resins. Lead- and chromate-free. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For undercoating wood, wood-based materials, metals, and hard plastics after proper substrate preparation and priming. Substrate preparation

The substrates must be sound, free of dirt and separating substances, and dry. Remove loose coatings. Clean and sand old, firmly adhering coatings thoroughly. Filled surfaces must be thoroughly dry. Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18 363, Paragraph 3.

Pretreatment:

Softwoods outside: Impregnate with blue stain protection (MEGA 242 Protect wood protection impregnation or MEGA 184 Protect impregnation glaze colorless).

Iron and steel: MEGA 003 Rust Protection Primer or MEGA 004 Epoxy Primer 2K

Renewal coatings: leaching and sanding old paintwork.

Recoating: With all aromatic-free MEGA paints and aromatic-free alkyd resin architectural paints.

Technical data

Dilution: Ready for use

Cleaning of tools: Immediately after use with MEGA 904 synthetic resin thinner or MEGA 901 white spirit.

Consumption: Approx. 110 ml/m² (coated on a vertical, smooth surface) depending on the application thickness and surface roughness. Determine exact consumption values ​​on a project-by-project basis.

Drying: At 20°C and 50% relative humidity: Dust-dry: after approx. 2–3 hours. Surface-dry: after approx. 8–10 hours. Ready for recoating: after approx. 14–16 hours.

Airless spraying: Viscosity: Original, only adjust if necessary Nozzle: 0.011"–0.013" inch = 0.279–0.33 mm Spray angle: up to 50° depending on the surface Pressure: approx. 140 bar (depending on the device)

High-pressure spraying: Nozzle: 1.5 mm Pressure: approx. 2 bar

General information

Processing temperature: Pay attention to dew and object temperature. Low temperatures and/or high humidity will delay drying and lead to surface defects.

Storage: In the closed original container, stored in a dry, cool and frost-free place for at least 12 months.

Composition according to VDL guidelines: alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, fillers, aromatic-free white spirits, additives

Disposal instructions: Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations. Only empty containers should be recycled. Dispose of containers with residues at the applicable collection point for old paint.
