Primer Classic Allgrund MEGA 002

High-quality, universally applicable all-purpose primer based on a special synthetic resin combination with active rust-protection pigments.

The primer for all surfaces

Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Adhesion promoter and corrosion protection on steel, galvanized steel components, zinc, aluminum, plastics such as rigid PVC, polyester, melamine resin (Formica), wood, and wood-based materials (not for outdoor wooden windows). Not suitable for thermoplastics.

Pretreatment and general information on the primer

Application: By brush, roller, and spray. The material is ready to apply.

Substrate preparation: The substrates must be sound, free of dirt and separating substances, and dry. Remove loose coatings. Clean and sand old, firmly adhering coatings thoroughly. Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18 363, Paragraph 3.

Pretreatment of initial coating :

Iron and steel:

Thoroughly derust, remove mill scale, and scale. Remove oil and grease by washing with universal thinner. Apply two generous coats of MEGA 002 Classic All-Purpose Primer.

Zinc and galvanized steel components:

Clean with an ammoniacal wetting agent using a plastic abrasive fleece. Rinse thoroughly (see BFS Data Sheet No. 5). Primer and intermediate coat: MEGA 002 Classic Allgrund

Aluminum:

Preparatory work according to BFS-Markblatt No. 6 Primer and intermediate coat: MEGA 002 Classic Allgrund

Plastics:

Clean rigid PVC, polyester, melamine resin (Resopal) with a suitable thinner and sand with abrasive fleece (see BFS leaflet no. 22).

Wood and wood-based materials:

Pretreat softwoods (outdoors) with blue stain protection and allow to dry for at least 1 day. Do not use MEGA 002 Classic All-Purpose Primer on wooden windows outdoors.

Old paintwork:

Check for load-bearing capacity. Acidify or thoroughly sand firmly adhering old coatings. Old thermoplastic coatings, such as liquid plastics, water-thinnable acrylic paints, etc., can only be recoated with similar materials. Thermoplastic coatings can be identified by a solvent test with nitrocellulose thinner. Severe dissolving = thermoplastic coatings.

Technical data

Dilution: Ready for use

Cleaning the tools: Clean immediately after use with MEGA 904 synthetic resin thinner.

Consumption: Approx. 80 ml/m² for 1 coat

Drying: At 20 °C and 60% relative humidity: Dust-dry: after approximately 1 hour. Recoatable: after approximately 3 hours with alkyd resin paints. Sandable: 2K acrylic-resistant: after approximately 24 hours. After approximately 36 hours (create a test area).

Airless spraying: Viscosity: if required with max. 10% Nozzle: 0.011–0.013 inch Spray angle: depending on the substrate 40° to 60° Pressure: approx. 180–200 bar

High-pressure spraying: Viscosity: 35 s/4 mm DIN cup Nozzle: Pressure: 1.5–1.8 mm 3.0–5.0 bar

General information

Processing temperature: Pay attention to dew and object temperature. Low temperatures and/or high humidity will delay drying and lead to surface defects.

Declaration of ingredients: Synthetic binder combination, inorganic/organic pigments, fillers, active corrosion protection pigments, additives, dearomatized white spirit, esters

Disposal instructions: Only recycle completely empty containers. Dispose of containers with residues at the recycling center for old paint.
